Team effort! We put the solar system together.

Students in my basic sentence writing group practiced writing complete sentences using different parts of a sentence from the "Carrot Basket". 

Students had to identify which part of the sentence was the subject, circle it and write "S" above the circle, and write a "V" above the verb. We ended up with lots of silly sentences and had lots of fun!   

This is obviously still a work in progress, but at least most sentences started with a capital letter and had an ending punctuation. The subjects and verbs were identified correctly, for the most part :).

Some of my students have been learning about what makes a good, complete sentence. Students have been using the cue card below to edit simple sentences.
